Don’t be a ZOMBIE! Win $2500 with the MyEducation.com Come Alive Contest!

Sometimes I feel like a zombie!  Living the day to day…in a haze, just going through the motions.  No money and it seems like everything is out of whack….Like I am just not where I want to be!  But I am never hopeless!  One of my MAIN goals is to go back to school.  When our son passed away a couple of years ago, it took me months to even be able to patronize places I had once been a regular.  And, unfortunately, school was one of those places.  Now…fast forward to the present…I am SO READY to get my butt back into school.  I am so close to finishing.  And, I LOVE school.  There is so much to learn and so many opportunities to explore.  I have had a few different majors like Chemistry, English, and Business Marketing (indecisive Libra, I am!) and each one taught me new ideas and concepts.  I used to label myself a “life long” student because I enjoyed learning.  But there does come a point where the degree needs to be attached.  I know how fierce the competition is out there.  If I want a GREAT paying job, unless I have a degree along with some really good recommendations I can kiss a “fancy” career goodbye.  I know my luck – I am 32 years old – A great paying, high bonus/benefits job is NOT going to just fall into my lap and all problems will be solved (well money, any ways).  With hard work comes great rewards!

Of course, my previous education has helped me start my own small business making soy candles.  But I still want to go back and get that degree – and have something to show for the last 10 years!  It is never too late!  I remember being 18 and thinking, “When I am 25 I will have a good job, nice car, cute house…etc…”  I had my first daughter at 25.  And I thought, ‘By the time I am 30 I will be a Pharmacist and life will be golden.”  Didn’t happen.  Now I am on the kick, “when I am 40 I will be financially stable and done with school.  My kids will be provided for.”  Let’s hope this isn’t another far off thought.  It is important to make the goals (in whatever you do) and stick with it!  Set clear concise expectations for yourself and know exactly what you hope to achieve from your goals.  Keep your eyes on the prize and the rest will happen naturally.

A website called MyEducation.com was recently introduced to me by my wonderful blog community – The Blogger Connection.  It is perfect timing because I am starting to plan my “return to school” (in quotes because it is a big event!  The day I FINALLY walk down the aisle and get my degree will be one of my greatest accomplishments!).  Since my last time in, my wants and goals have changed.  I was never really sure what I wanted to do, hence three majors!  Now, I am older and somewhat wiser :-p and think I am finding my niche.  My passions include making candles, running my own business, blogging, social media marketing (so interested in the effects of the internet on everything!!!), and website/graphic design.  What I like about the website is that I can enter what career field I am looking to go into and where I live and it will pull up a listing of colleges that are geared towards my field.  This takes some of the leg work out.

They also have a cute commercial.  Who doesn’t love a good zombie video?  Plus it has a good message.

Don’t be like the zombie chewing cords!

Be like “Zoey the Zombie” and achieve your potential!  Here is a great way to get started and use some creative muscle.  MyEducation.com is having a “Come Alive” contest and the Grand Prize winner will win $2500!  With the price of books these days, you will probably need it!  So be creative, fun, SMART, inspiring….and create YOUR OWN “Come Alive with MyEducation.com” video and show the world who you are (or who you are about to BECOME!)

So, go to MyEducation.com and submit your video!  I will be submitting mine!  Do you think you can do better???  If you do submit a video, I would love to see it! Zombies and Halloween – that is a great combination!

Also, post it to MyEducation.com’s Facebook page (and make sure you “like” them too!).

If you tweet, then follow them to stay in the loop – @MyEducationGirl

And subscribe to MyEducation.com’s Youtube channel to see outtakes from the zombie commercial.

Once you have your video submitted get everybody you know to VOTE VOTE VOTE for you!  Tell them to watch your channel, become a fan, and share it!  The top ten videos will be will be judged (see official rules).

Plus, beginning October 15th, MyEducation.com will be hosting bi-monthly challenges.  This is another way you **could** win a $100 gift card!

Feel free to comment here and tell me if you are planning on returning to school.  What is your major?  What is YOUR story?  I would love to hear it 🙂
